Shimojohoji, Eiheiji歓宿縁 ESHIKOTO
Kanshukuen Eshikoto
Kanshukuen ESHIKOTO, run by Aquaignis, is an auberge of eight black villas, opened in November 2024 at the foot of Mount Johoji facing the Kuzuryu River, next to ESHIKOTO, the sake complex of the company behind the Kokuryu brewery, and about 15 minutes by car from Eiheiji temple. Each villa has a hot-spring bath and terrace and is furnished by the ceramicist Koichi Uchida with antiques, Fukui crafts and modern art; dinner is at its Japanese restaurant En or its French restaurant cadre. A ninth villa, TSUDOI, with two Finnish saunas, takes guests from 31 October 2026.
