Al Maha is a resort of 42 private pool villas inside the 225-square-kilometre Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve, looking towards the Hajar Mountains, where Arabian oryx and gazelles roam. Stays are full board, the design draws on Bedouin life, and children under eight are not admitted.

A 750-room hotel in two 45-storey towers at the northern mouth of Dubai Marina, the first opened in June 2005 as the first hotel in the Marina and the second added as a twin. Rooms and suites look over the Marina, the Gulf and Palm Jumeirah, and the towers hold some 15 restaurants and bars, from Buddha-Bar to the two-MICHELIN-star Row on 45.

A 160-room hotel directly in front of Nijo Castle in central Kyoto, on the site of the Kyoto residence of the Kitake, the executive branch of the Mitsui family, which the family held for more than 250 years. Guests enter through the restored 1703 Kajiimiya Gate, the rooms are a modern take on the Japanese tearoom, and a natural hot spring rises from about 1,000 metres below the building.

A 39-room hotel on the Hozu River in Arashiyama, western Kyoto, on part of the grounds of Tenryu-ji where the government guest ryokan Rantei once stood. Two restored buildings survive on the estate, Baron Shozo Kawasaki's 1899 summer villa and a 1910 thatched-roof building, and 17 of the rooms have their own hot-spring bath.

Casa Brera is a hotel of 101 rooms and 15 suites on the pedestrian Piazzetta Bossi, a few steps from La Scala and Brera, in a 1950s Rationalist building by Pietro Lingeri. Patricia Urquiola restored it inside with walnut, Italian marbles and Cassina and Poliform furniture, and the eighth-floor roof has a restaurant, sky bar and outdoor pool.

Excelsior Hotel Gallia is a 235-room hotel on the western edge of Piazza Duca d'Aosta, beside Milano Centrale station, in an Art Deco-era building that opened in 1932. A steel-and-glass tower by Marco Piva has been added to the original building, and the 1,000-square-metre Katara Royal Suite takes the top floor.

A 205-room beach resort on Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi Street in Ajman, opened in 2014 as Starwood's first hotel in the emirate and described by the hotel as the first beachside Luxury Collection resort in the Middle East. Rooms face either the Arabian Gulf or the creek, with a private white-sand beach, two pools and a spa.

A 374-room hotel at 61 Wireless Road in Lumpini, Bangkok, on the grounds of the Kandhavas Palace, where Princess Valaya Alongkorn lived until her death in 1938. Formerly the Plaza Athenee, it reopened in 2017 as a Luxury Collection hotel with interiors drawn from Thai royal ceremony, colours and art, with a European touch.

The Langley is a 41-room hotel in the former manor home of the third Duke of Marlborough at Iver, Buckinghamshire, on 150 acres of formal gardens and parkland laid out by Capability Brown. Rooms are split between the Palladian-style mansion and the adjoining Grade II-listed Brew House, and the spa has heated indoor and outdoor pools.

It joins three eras in one block: 1840s Georgian sandstone buildings, a 1940s Art Deco block and a glass Pavilion added in the 2020s.

Londoner Grand is a 2,405-room hotel on the Cotai Strip, opened in early 2025 as Macao's first Luxury Collection hotel. Peter Silling & Associates drew on London's Georgian architecture, with panelling, marble and Mayfair-inspired artwork, and it holds a private hotel within, Paiza Grand, of 313 suites with dedicated Grand Butlers.

A 43-room hotel on the western edge of Nara Park, set in the Yoshikien garden that was once part of the grounds of Kofuku-ji, with Kasuga Taisha, Kofuku-ji and Todai-ji around it. Reception, restaurant and lounge occupy the low wooden residence built in 1922 for the governor of Nara, entered through its original roofed gate, and the design and interiors are by Kengo Kuma & Associates.

The top tier of Josun Hotels & Resorts, opened in 2021 in the Center Field West tower at 231 Teheran-ro, Yeoksam-dong, Gangnam, carrying on the Josun Hotel name that began at Sogong-dong in 1914. Rooms sit on floors 27 to 35, with restaurants on the 24th and 36th floors and art deco interiors by Humbert & Poyet.

A Gothic palazzo on the Grand Canal at Campo Santa Maria del Giglio in San Marco, remodelled by the Pisani family in 1475, home to Doge Andrea Gritti from 1525 and a hotel since 1895. It looks across the water to Santa Maria della Salute and the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, with 61 rooms and 21 suites after a 15-month restoration finished in 2013.
