A beach resort of 54 villas and pavilions at Nong Thale on the Krabi coast, set in rainforest below the limestone mountains and facing the Andaman Sea, opened in 2009 as the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve. Rooms are in Thai style, with hand-painted screens and domed ceilings, private pools or verandahs, and a personal butler, the Ton Hong.

A 50-room ski-in, ski-out resort at the foot of Mount Niseko Annupuri in Niseko Village, Hokkaido, and the first Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Japan. Polished marble, cedarwood and flame-finished granite frame views of Mount Yotei and Annupuri, with a hot-spring onsen fed from Niseko's underground springs.
