Formerly the Plaza Athenee, it reopened in 2017 as a Luxury Collection hotel with interiors drawn from Thai royal ceremony, colours and art, with a European touch.

Built as the Plaza Athenee on the grounds of the Kandhavas Palace, home of Princess Valaya Alongkorn until 1938. Asset World Corporation funded a renovation of all 374 rooms and the public spaces by Vekhin Interior and Bangkok Dec-Con, drawing on Thai royal ceremonies, palettes and art, with a new pool area, bar and restaurant; it reopened as The Athenee in November 2017.
