The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia or the Conrad, Singapore?
Both opened in 1996 a few hundred metres apart at Marina Centre, near Promenade MRT. The Ritz-Carlton is Kevin Roche's slender 32-storey tower on 37-metre legs above seven acres of green, with rooms of 51 sq m and an octagonal window in every bathroom; the Conrad, known as Conrad Centennial until April 2025, is a 31-floor hotel beside the Suntec Convention Centre with rooms of 40 sq m, redone in 2018. The Ritz-Carlton is the one for space, the bay and a MICHELIN-starred Cantonese room; the Conrad for Suntec on the doorstep.

The building
The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore
Designed by the Pritzker laureate Kevin Roche for Pontiac Land: a single slender tower on 37-metre stilt-like legs, so that every room has a bay or city view, with octagonal bathroom windows. Tony Chi designed Colony and Summer Pavilion, and Terry Hunziker the Presidential Suite; the art collection runs to 4,200 pieces including Hockney, Warhol, Chihuly and Frank Stella.
Conrad Singapore Marina Bay
The rooms were refurbished in 2018 by Jaya Ibrahim Design, with Peranakan-inspired carpets and black-and-white prints by Gene Nemeth; the lobby follows feng shui principles, with Rafael Barrios' Turbulence standing for its fire element. The hotel was renamed from Conrad Centennial Singapore to Conrad Singapore Marina Bay on 15 April 2025, with a new lobby arrival and a new concept for Oscar's announced for early 2026.
