Both are new buildings looking over Lumpini Park, opened about three months apart in 2024. The Dusit Thani is Thailand's own grand hotel of 1970, rebuilt from the ground up with its golden spire and carved teak ceilings put back and interiors by André Fu; the Ritz-Carlton, in the One Bangkok district on Wireless Road, sets Thai craft in a contemporary tower. Rooms in both start at 50 sq m, so the choice comes down to the restaurants, the outdoor space and which side of the park you want.

The building

Dusit Thani Bangkok

The original Dusit Thani, the city's tallest building when it opened in 1970, was demolished and rebuilt, with architecture by Architects 49 International and OMA Asia (Hong Kong) and interiors by André Fu Studio, reopening on 27 September 2024 with fewer, larger rooms, from 50 sq m. The golden spire, now within a new spire three times the size, and the carved teak ceiling from Benjarong were reinstalled, and one floor is hung with works by local artists.

It stands on the same site, but the 1970 building was demolished in 2019 and the hotel rebuilt, reopening on 27 September 2024 with 257 rooms against the original 517. The golden spire, now inside a new one three times its size, and Benjarong's carved teak ceiling were kept and built in.

The Dusit Thani connects to the BTS Sala Daeng and MRT Silom interchange. At the Ritz-Carlton a walkway links One Bangkok to Exit 1 of MRT Lumpini, and a free hotel shuttle runs every 15 minutes to BTS Phloen Chit.
