The building

Park Hyatt Niseko Hanazono

Interiors by BAR Studio of Melbourne, working with Nikken Sekkei and Fujita Corporation; the scheme draws on an alpine village and a mountain lodge, with Japanese crafts and materials, and three pitched-roof pavilions at the base of the buildings house the restaurants. The interiors were the stand-out project in the Hospitality Design category at the 2021 Australian Interior Design Awards.

Higashiyama Niseko Village, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve

Opened December 2020 for owner YTL Hotels as the fifth Ritz-Carlton Reserve worldwide. The design follows the proverb kachou fuugetsu (flower, bird, wind, moon), using polished marble, cedarwood and flame-brushed granite, with every space set to frame the mountains.
