Yudanaka Onsen, Yamanouchi松籟荘
Shoraiso
Shoraiso is a five-room ryokan in Yudanaka Onsen, in northern Nagano about 10 minutes by car (then a 30-minute walk) from the Jigokudani snow monkeys, rebuilt in 2024 by the Yorozuya ryokan across the road after the 1939 Shoraiso building burned in 2021. It is a wooden building finished by temple carpenters, where every room has a free-flowing hot-spring bath and its own small garden, dinner is served in the room or a private dining room, and guests cross the road to bathe in Yorozuya's 1953 Momoyama Bath.
