Bikan Historical Quarter, Kurashiki旅館くらしき

Ryokan Kurashiki

Ryokan Kurashiki opened in 1957 in a sugar wholesaler's house and its rice, sugar and tool storehouses, some about 280 to 300 years old, on the willow-lined Kurashiki River in the middle of the Bikan Historical Quarter. Five of its eight rooms, the restaurant and the private bath were redone in a renovation that closed the inn in 2024 until 9 August that year. Each room is in a different old building, most with a tatami room and a Western bedroom, and kaiseki of Setouchi fish is served in a restaurant looking onto an Edo-period garden; two townhouses on Honmachi street are let whole as the Residence.

Q&A

Ryokan Kurashiki releases its rooms on set dates, months ahead. Tell us your dates and our team in Japan books it for you, at the inn’s own rate. We ask for the room we would choose and look after everything else with the inn on your behalf: your preferences and requests, any special arrangement, from a celebration to a car from the station, and whatever you need before and during your stay. The price and cancellation terms are confirmed with you first.

Okayama Airport (OKJ): about 45 minutes by airport bus to JR Kurashiki station, then 15 minutes on foot.
