Gora Kadan

Gora Kadan is a ryokan in Gora, Hakone, built around the former summer villa of the imperial Kan'in family and opened as an inn in 1948 by Prince Kan'in Haruhito. A long pillared corridor links modern wings of tatami rooms, many with their own open-air bath, to the old villa, which now holds the kaiseki restaurant.

Q&A

Gora Kadan takes some bookings only by telephone and releases its rooms on set dates, months ahead. Tell us your dates and our team in Japan books it for you, at the inn’s own rate. We ask for the room we would choose and look after everything else with the inn on your behalf: your preferences and requests, any special arrangement, from a celebration to a car from the station, and whatever you need before and during your stay. The price and cancellation terms are confirmed with you first.

Small fashion tattoos up to about A4 size are allowed in the public baths and pool; guests with larger tattoos are asked to use the private bath.

Tokyo Haneda, by train to Odawara and the Hakone Tozan Railway to Gora, or by car; the inn arranges limousine transfers.
