Izu-Nagaoka Onsen, Izunokuni三養荘

Sanyo-so

Sanyo-so is a ryokan in the hills above Izu-Nagaoka Onsen in central Izu, made from the sukiya-style villa that Hisaya Iwasaki, eldest son of the Mitsubishi founder, built in 1929 in a garden by the Kyoto gardener Jihei Ogawa, and run as an inn since 1947. Rooms are in the registered-cultural-property Main Building facing the 3,000-tsubo garden, and in a low New Wing that Togo Murano designed in his nineties, set around small courtyard gardens.

Q&A

Tell us your dates and our team in Japan books it for you, at the inn’s own rate. We ask for the room we would choose and look after everything else with the inn on your behalf: your preferences and requests, any special arrangement, from a celebration to a car from the station, and whatever you need before and during your stay. The price and cancellation terms are confirmed with you first.

Guests with tattoos may be restricted in the large baths.

No airport close by: from Tokyo, the Tokaido Shinkansen to Mishima, then the Izuhakone Railway to Izu-Nagaoka (about 23 minutes) and the inn's shuttle.
