Mandarin Oriental, Singapore opened in 1987. It was last renovated in 2023: six-month transformation of all rooms and suites, the lobby and the all-day restaurant (now embu), led by Jeffrey Wilkes of DesignWilkes.
Designed by the American architect John Portman around a fan-shaped atrium and opened as The Oriental, Singapore in 1987; renamed Mandarin Oriental after a refurbishment in 2005. A six-month transformation led by Jeffrey Wilkes of DesignWilkes, completed in September 2023, gave each room a palette after its view: batik patterns and cool blues for the bay, warm tones for the sea, botanical prints for the city.
