Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur opened in 1998.
Opened in October 1998, designed by WAT&G with the local firm Group Design Partnership to complement rather than compete with the Petronas Towers, with a 'second roof' hiding the rooftop plant; the interiors were among the last projects of Howard Hirsch of Hirsch Bedner Associates, with Malay lattice louvres, copper lanterns, kris-design door handles, Nyonya screens and 297 works by local artists.
