Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra opens in Mallorca

Mandarin Oriental announced on 22 June 2026 that Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca, was welcoming its first guests that month. The resort is in Calvià on the island’s south-west coast, near Puerto Portals, on the site of the historic Hotel Punta Negra.

The group describes it as its third hotel in Spain, after Barcelona and the Mandarin Oriental Ritz in Madrid, and its first resort in the Balearic Islands. In both cities Mandarin Oriental also has residences: Mandarin Oriental Residences Barcelona on Passeig de Gràcia, and Mandarin Oriental Residences Madrid in the Salamanca district of Madrid.

Rooms and restaurants

There are 131 rooms and suites across five buildings, some with private pools. The count includes 26 suites, nine casitas, 13 rooms and suites with plunge pools, and five rooftop suites with their own pools.

Six restaurants and bars are led by chefs including Nobu Matsuhisa and Dani García. They are Matsuhisa; Leña by Dani García; Jacinta, which is Mexican; Leppoc, serving Mediterranean and Levantine food; Sobretaula, a tapas terrace; and Thalos, the poolside bar.

For a first stay

An opening offer, “Be the First to Stay”, starts from €1,500 a night for two (2026). It covers a two-night stay with breakfast and a daily credit for dining or the spa.

For a guest, this is the brand’s first beach resort in the Balearics, near Puerto Portals on the south-west coast, with Japanese, Mexican, Levantine and Spanish cooking on one site and an opening offer for those who want to stay in its first months. The casitas and the suites with their own pools give more room than a standard hotel stay.
