Four Seasons announced on 2 April 2026 the opening of Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena, in the Getsemaní district beside the walled city. The complex includes a limited number of Four Seasons Private Residences Cartagena, designed by Rodriguez Valencia Arquitectos and set within the hotel itself.
The hotel is owned by San Francisco Investments and operated by Four Seasons. According to Caribbean Journal, it is the brand's first hotel in Cartagena and its third in Colombia.
The project brings together several restored heritage buildings, among them the 1920s Club Cartagena by Gastón Lelarge and the former Iglesia de la Veracruz, which later became Teatro Cartagena. Interiors were led by the late François Catroux, working with WATG and Wimberly Interiors.
There are 131 rooms and suites, 27 of them colonial-style rooms and suites in the heritage buildings. The largest is the two-bedroom Catroux Suite, which has a private lift. Caribbean Journal reported rooms from about $700 a night at opening (2026). The hotel has eight restaurants and bars, including The Grand Grill and Bar Lelarge by Major Food Group, two rooftop pools and the six-room Umari Spa.
The residences are few: about 16, sold rather than rented, and fully serviced by Four Seasons with access to the hotel's services. Prices have not been published, and service charges have not been disclosed. Owners share the hotel's rooftop pools and spa.
Cartagena joins a growing list of Four Seasons residences in Latin America and the Caribbean, including Punta Mita, Los Cabos at Costa Palmas and Peninsula Papagayo in Costa Rica. Near Cartagena, Sofitel has residences at Sofitel Residences Barú Calablanca.
For a buyer, this is a finished, operating building rather than an off-plan promise: the hotel, its restaurants and its spa are open now. With so few residences inside a heritage complex, supply will stay thin. For guests, the city's first Four Seasons is open from this spring.
